I've been working on etsy creations lately and have always enjoyed using junk pieces and household old stuff! Vintage graters, especially the flat styles, make good bases for collage and assemblage work, as well as memo boards, photo displays, etc. There are many different styles available that can be easily and cheaply found at garage sales, flea markets and thrift shops, as well as antique stores. I use whatever I have found- old clips and hooks, clock parts and hardware, vintage game pieces, typewriter letters, etc. Many graters will also hold magnets which can be very useful! I often work on an old cookie sheet with edges to hold all the goodies and catch any drips from adhesives. The "Time Flies" collage pictured was made with an old clock face, gears, and hand, an old gas gauge, a paper ticket, and vintage game and typewriter letters. Its a lot of fun to see what you can come up with!
