Weekend at the Lake...
Monday, July 5, 2010
This weekend we took off for a short getaway to the lake for the holiday weekend! It has been SO hot and humid here lately! Our place is on a chain of five lakes and is normally pretty quiet with a few recreational boaters and people fishing. With the heat, everyone else had the same idea and this is what it looked like...
So, we decided to stay clear of the crazy traffic and just hang out! We went out to a local steakhouse for dinner as it was too hot to grill...then hung out on the deck late into the night playing games, watching the sunset and fireflies. It was a great family time!
Thought I'd share a few pics from the house so you can see where some of my recent finds have ended up! Remember this great oyster tin? It now sits on a high ledge in the three season porch...
Also in the porch are these pillows I found at recent sales at recent sales...
and the cute little oar is over a doorway!
Look at this fun vintage fishing trophy...
and this is a sign I made on an old fence picket that hangs over the back door...
The flower box on the front of the house is filling in nicely!
Lots of wildlife this weekend, too! This pair of ducks decided to just hang out in the back yard...
and we watched this sweet baby Oriole in the bushes being fed by its mama...
It's always a relaxing getaway!
Until next time...
Linda

Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having the same weather we are! Your pictures are great. I have never seen a baby oriole before, so cute! How nice that you have a lake house, and another place to decorate :) I really love your Canadian Mountie pillow, that is just so neat! And your flower boxes are gorgeous, too! Our lake was a zoo this weekend, so it will be nice to get things back to normal. Keep cool!
It looks peaceful, relaxing and delightful! Glad you had a nice weekend. Love that baby bird.
ReplyDeleteYour windowbox looks like something out of a magazine! I love your retreat. Your porch, and everything else about this special place of yours.

Your lake home looks great! I hope it was cooler there then around the cities...we did go to the Trader's market and it was busy. Didn't find much...
ReplyDeleteAlmost time for another sale...better get busy pricing things.
Warmly,
Deb :)
I was enjoying your lovely pictures when I spied my nemesis under your window box! How do you control that plant???

sounds like you had a marvelous weekend!! We only went long enough to cook out for Saturday night's supper and then watch the fireworks! That's all my hubby had time for since they're still making hay! This week has been hot and sticky so far--don't like it!!! Hope you're having a good one! Love ya, Julie
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I love the paneling on the three season porch and the way you displayed your finds is perfect. That water looks so inviting. It's hot and miserable here in the midwest.
