Apples and Late Summer Garden Pretties...
Saturday, August 7, 2010
This year spring came very early in Minnesota...trees blossomed early...and my apples are ripening early now, too. Apples were falling off the tree, so I picked one and tasted...and it was sweet! I picked a couple of big bowls...
There's such a change in the garden...even though it is REALLY hot and humid right now, the garden is showing that fall is on the way... The Mountain Ash berries have turned orange...
the coneflowers and brown eyed susans are in full bloom...
It's been such a hot summer, that I'm welcoming the late summer with open arms...the last half of August and the month of September have always been one of my favorite times of the year!
Until next time...
Linda

I sure know how the hot summer feels...it has been too hot most days...my boys do not even want to leave the house at all this week. OK for me...I caught up on my blogging. Your apples are of abundance...do you bake or can? They look great!
ReplyDeleteIt's so hot...Fall is sounding pretty good!
ReplyDeleteWow! Sure seems early for apples. I, too am really looking forward to fall, since it's been hot & muggy most of the summer here in Michigan, too! My purple cone flowers are almost kaput since they bloomed so early this year. But my black eyed Susan's are gorgeous like yours are!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly has been very hot and humid here on the east coast as well. I live about 2 miles from the ocean, but it's been one of the hottest most uncomfortable summers that I have experienced. Oh, maybe I'm just getting old and cranky!
ReplyDeleteLovely to have such a bounty of apples right within your own reach. Enjoy!
It has been way too hot this summer and I too am looking forward to some cooler air. Such pretty apples and flowers.
ReplyDeleteToday has felt like fall here. We get like one month of summer it seems.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about knowing summer will be ending soon. Despite the hot weather, the garden is acting like fall is on it's way. I hate to see it end but fallis such a great time of year. your apples make me realize what's coming soon.
ReplyDeleteI know it has been hot and I love the fall, but come winter I look back and wonder why I was in such a hurry for it to end! (ok, I kow why...time for the kids to go back to school!) Your apples look scrumptious!

The weather has been unusual here this year also. We went from heat to a/c within days. Your picture of the apples and the cherub is pretty enough to frame.

How nice to have your own apple tree! Those look really good!
ReplyDeleteWe hardly see fall arrive here. It's here just a glimpse and then what we consider winter, which isn't very cold most times. Lovely to have your very own apples to pick and eat!

ReplyDeleteIt has been hot, it is warmer here in Fargo today than where my daughter is in AZ!
ReplyDeleteNice apples. Things have been ahead this year a bit, hope the snow will be way behind!
Minnesota sounds so "cool" compared to here in Florida. Our cool today was 92 and overcast, so it felt like a humid heaven. Love your photos and your pretty blog. I love junkin', too. Thanks for stopping by Gail-Friends today.
ReplyDeleteLove love your blog! Very hot here too :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented and love your creation!
Thank you so much for your visit and follow. Doing the same.

Pretty flowers and apples. My hubs eats an apple daily. Thanks for following I will do the same as we llok to be kindred spirits. hugs♥olive
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteOh to live somewhere where you can pick an apple from your tree. Love it. :-)
I have 3 apple trees. Only one tree has ONE apple! How old do apple trees have to be before they produce? But on the bright side, I don't have apples dropping on the lawn!
