Recently, I went to a garage sale where a woman was selling vintage linens and crocheted goodies in $1 grab bags! Be still my heart! I bought 10 bags and ended up with about 70 pretty pieces for decorating and creating! It was fun opening each bag and seeing what was inside... so many different types and styles.
Sweet embroidered shamrocks...
lovely crocheted edgings...
Lots of doilies...
This is a very large piece of edging...about 18" x 30"...
and this piece has a butterfly and flowers!
There were some charming colorful pieces, too.
Look at this beautiful old chemise...I sure didn't expect to find this in a grab bag!
I thought this piece was really lovely...linen and crochet...
I love the beautiful embroidered blue floral motifs on this tablecloth. There was also a matching runner!
I've never seen a piece quite like this...a crocheted square. It could be used on a pillow and I'm trying to think of some other ideas...
Of course, linens look pretty just stacked up...
I felt like a kid in a candy store!

Until next time...enjoy the weekend!
WOW! Those were awesome grab bags! You got some beautiful pieces. I was visiting a blog the other and the gal used pieces similar to the colorful basket piece you have, as flaps on pillows. They were so pretty. I look forward to seeing how you use your new treasures!

ReplyDeleteOH..and the washtub caddy...they were asking $3.00 and I talked him down to the $2.00 he had just given me back in change! ROFLOL...I'm so bad! :)
Loved all your pieces, but that chemise was adorable! The square piece would make a lovely mat for a picture frame too..if you could find a nice square frame, that is. :)
I just got home from yard sales a few minutes ago...just got a couple of cute shirts, a new cutting board for sewing, a shelf and a couple of pillows. Not as good as last week, but still stuff I was looking for. :)
Have a great weekend!
Linda what a gorgeous purchase, every piece is so beautiful, and so many special items also...you truly had luck! And 1 dollar each is nothing!!

What a great grab bag. The linens are lovely. I always pause to think of all the time that went into making these lovely things (and now they are in a grab bag!)
ReplyDeleteLucky find for you.
You make me want to move to MN just for the yard sales. I went to several yard sales this past week and found nothing - and it's not because I didn't try.
ReplyDeleteYou know what? You deserve bags bad bags of beautiful things...
ReplyDeleteBecause you are awesome.
What a beautiful find in the linens. Someone worked very hard. Wouldn't you just love to hear the stories behind them? I think the square looks like a lovely matt for a vintage photo.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you look so cute in glasses, almost didn't recognize you on pinterest, ha, don't know how long you'll had that profile picture, sometimes I'm a little slow.
ReplyDeleteLucky girl, scoring all those linens, and they look in terrific condition too! Certainly can't beat the price. I'm off this morning to a "sewers" estate sale, I'm sure NOT to get any were near that bargain but hope to find something priced in my comfort zone.
I'll be in the beautiful mid west for a wedding in a week, woo hoo! Have a great holiday weekend, Susanne.
For some reason this year so far at garage sales I am seeing a lot of linens and lace. Works for me!
