A Simple Little Re-Do Project...

Keeping it real here...have you ever had this happen to a piece of furniture?  I have two matching recliners that we have had for several years and the footpad on one wore right through.  I'm not looking to replace it right now...with five young grandchildren, two rambunctious pugs, and lots of adults using these chairs, I don't need to worry about what happens with new furniture!  I'm not that skilled to totally reupholster the chairs, so I decided to just do a simple re-cover for the footpads on each chair.  First, we removed the pieces, by unscrewing them from the underside.  On the torn piece,  I took some extra fabric, and glued it into the opening so I would have a pretty smooth surface...

Since the chairs are several years old and have wear...matching fabric...if I could find it, would no longer match.  So I bought some fabric in a contrasting pattern, but like color tones, and simply used a staple gun to cover the pieces.  One hint~ try not to cover over the screw holes...it makes it much easier when it's time to put it back together!  With this fabric, I needed to make sure the grain was running straight when I stapled...

The original footpads had decorative cording on the front.  I had some nailhead trim and placed it just above the cording, so I was able to nail it in.  If you haven't used this product before, it comes in flexible rolls, and you nail in a matching nailhead every so often in the holes provided.  It looks like you've put in individual tacks, but you only do a few!

Afterwards, just screw the footpads back onto the frames.  We're really happy with the refreshed look of the chairs!  Next, I plan to make throw pillows with the fabric for each chair.

Uh oh...looks like somebody is ready to cause more trouble...
