You know I love a simple little re-do project! Well, this week I've been continuing with the attempt to bring a little spring into my decorating! I found this newer frame at the thrift store and loved the old tin tile look, but decided to change it up a little. Keeping it simple, I gave the frame a quick wash of white craft paint...
taking down the brush strokes by dabbing the wet paint with a napkin. I gave it two light coats so that shadows showed through, but not the red color.
Then I topped it off using my brush at a flat angle to catch the highlights...
Now the spring part...I took a scan of an old Easter card and enlarged it to fit the opening, and just set it in on top of the glass opening, backing it with a little tape.
I think it looks so pretty on the mantel with some other goodies...
I love these vintage sheep...
The great thing about this...the frame can be used either direction, and the print is easily changed out! I plan to use this scan of an old cow card next, but I think it will be fun to mix it up all year!
I will be joining Debra for The Marketplace at Common Ground

Your frame turned out great, Linda! The little prints that you found are so charming. I especially love the cow. I have a huge tin mirror that I stripped the paint off of last summer. I wish I would've just painted over it like you did. It's still sitting out in the garage :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation. I love it.
