We had a very special day last month...our daughter and new son-in-law were married! I wanted to share some of the sights...it was a large wedding, but very rustic and casual. It was held at the historic Sponsel's Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard in Jordan, Minnesota on a perfect, mid 70's, sunny day! The ceremony was in a barn, the limo was a tractor-drawn wagon, and the pulled pork buffet was wonderful. There was music and dancing, wagon rides through the orchard, and a campfire. A wonderful time was had by all, and it was just exactly what
the bride and groom imagined!
They have graciously allowed me to share a few photos with you, and photos of some of the decorations. The lovely photos were mostly taken by Heidi Zimmerman Photography of Cannon Falls, MN. Any that I took will be marked separately. You can click on any photo to see it larger.
Being vintage dealers, we have many fun pieces, and our good friend Clare owns The Red Bench {Vintage Event Rental & Design} . She provided us with many great vintage decorations...half wine barrels for the bar area, tables, banners, crates, and baskets, and the burlap runners for the tables. You might remember seeing her own wonderful barn wedding in this year's Flea Market Style Weddings Magazine!
Thank you, Clare!

Thank you, Clare!
My daughter is a graphic designer and designed all of the invitations, etc. and we did all the flowers for the wedding as well, so it was a homespun production!
We took care of some of the little ones during photos...this wedding had many, many children present...and two of the bridesmaids were pregnant, too!
Their rings...her ring is an untraditional pink Morganite...
very, very pretty...
The large barn was filled with people sitting on white benches, and overlooked the orchard. Two violinists (our daughter-in-law's sisters) provided beautiful music before the ceremony, as well as the wedding march and processional. The decorations were simple...orange zinnias and white coneflowers in galvanized tubs...
The groom's cousin, who is a lawyer and officiant, performed the lovely ceremony in a personal and meaningful way...
Large tractor-drawn wagons provided limo rides to the ceremony, as well as a celebratory ride through the apple trees afterwards...
The reception was held in the orchard's lodge building,
as well as outdoors...

The bride made the small wedding cake...gluten-free...
The candy bar was a big hit...even for the adults...I overheard one woman saying,"Ooh...Smarties!"
People had a lot of fun filling the candy bags... we had two counters full of goodies...

The "Love" tags were brown cardstock tags purchased at the craft store...and I used a chalk marker to write on them. The gray and white gingham square under each mason jar vase, was Ikea fabric, cut in 15" squares with pinking shears...no sew.

Scrapbooking paper and stickers were used to make this banner on the head table...
A few photos while we were decorating...

We had many mixed styles of glass candleholders...it was very pretty when lit at night...

The popcorn stand was another huge hit...people munched on it while waiting for dinner...and all through the evening.
We used an old coke crate (I cleaned and polyurethaned it) to hold the bags and seasonings. My mom and I stamped all the popcorn and candy bags, and used scalloped scissors to cut the tops of the popcorn bags, as well.

for the seasonings...
Chalkboards were used in many places...this one, for the menu...

This fun sign was made by the groom's family!
Lots of the vintage pieces at the bar were from The Red Bench. If you are in Minnesota and need pieces for an event, Clare has wonderful items for rent!

It really was a wonderful celebration full of memory-making
