A Fun Find and a Simple Little Re-Do...

Lately, I've been working out in the porch, getting it ready for summer visitors, family dinners, and naps...LOTS of naps.  For several years, I have decorated it with red, white, and blue...which I love...but this year we wanted more of a neutral farmhouse style.  One of the easiest ways to get the look, is using lots of pillow covers and shams that I have found out thrifting and garage sales.  I found a few at IKEA, too.

Today, I found this wicker footstool at the thrift store...


While I love the fabric print, it isn't the neutral tone we are going for...


The wicker stool has a great look...I debated painting it, but decided I liked it as is...


At the next thrift store stop, I found this Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic pillow sham...



The cushion fit perfectly, giving me the look I wanted, without damaging the cushion...just in case I want to use the other fabric in the future...


It makes a great footstool, with a washable cover...and extra seating, too!

    Wow, love the sham you found, Linda! I never find nice linens like that at the thrift store. This looks like a comfy cozy area already. I am ready and willing to nap test it for you! : )

    I can't believe that pillow sham fits the cushion perfectly! The bench looks like a perfect mate to your wicker love seat! Your sunporch looks like the perfect spot for an afternoon nap.

    I found 2 cute old farm chairs at the thrift store for $2.99 each yesterday!

    Your settee/couch/sofa looks like the perfect place for a nap. Now it's even more comfy with the footstool. It's good to shake it up on the porch every once in a while. I know I tend to get in a rut!

    Oh this is so pretty Linda! I'm thinking of using some old quilts or bedspreads on my couch to lighten up the look. I've been looking and looking. For some reason I didn't think about going to the thrift. (Hit me up the side of the head - you know I'm not myself now!). You have provided the inspiration I need for a new look, yet washable.     I have a wicker stool very similar to yours and I found mine at a thrift shop! However, mine doesn't have a cushion. I love the cover you found for your cushion. Isn't it great to find such wonderful things by thrifting?
