Front Porch Decorating...

Usually we decorate the front of our home with lights and greens, but this year winter arrived so early and strong, that we didn't get much done.  Last week we had a few days in the 50s and all of our snow melted. We decided to take advantage of the warmer temps to at least do a little decorating out on the front entry! The next day we had a few inches of new snowfall for a fresh wintry look!

I used an old sled and surrounded it with greens and dogwood branches cut from our yard.  A pair of white skates adds the perfect winter touch...

Our front porch decorating is usually more winter oriented with a few touches of Christmas decor that can be easily removed after the holidays.
Then we are ready for the long winter...

Last week I found a great pair of Norwegian wood cross country skis at the thrift store...they even had the shoes attached!

Adding in more skis, skates, and even some snowshoes, adds to the winter feeling...

My favorite decoration is always...snow.  It's cold enough again now that it should stay white for Christmas!

Until next time...

  10. Your front porch looks lovely, Linda. I love all your vintage pieces. I just found a pair of red and white striped ski poles that are from Switzerland. They are SOOO cute. I like to do our porch for the whole of winter, too, rather than just for Christmas. xo Diana

  23. Hi Linda-
I have begun to realize that there are a few bloggers that I've signed up with, to get their posts through email, that I never receive. And yours is one of them! I'm so sorry about this, because I DO want to follow you! I have to investigate to find out what the problem is!
Anyway- I had to chuckle a little about this post, as my MN front door display looks quite similar! But yours is for sure better...with all the wonderful old skis! I can't believe you found the Norwegian ones at a thrift! Yay for you!
    Happy Holidays!
    Erica :)
