With all the garage sales this time of year, an easy and inexpensive find is vintage yardsticks! Often under a dollar, or even in the free box, they are worth picking up for all kinds of projects!
All you have to do is check out Pinterest and search "yardstick", to see all of the inspiration ideas out there. I love the different styles of numbers, colors, and advertising...
I love the look and decided to display them as artwork in the sunporch. I fanned them out in a tall wall basket...
It makes a real statement on the wall!
Have you used vintage yardsticks in your projects?
Until next time...
I love (as always!) what you found and then what you did with it!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot seen a lot of yard sticks over here, though a few years ago I bought my self a fold up wooden ruler 24" long that I just could not resist. I haven't 'done' anything with it - it just lives happily in my pencil pot!!!
Hope you have a lovely week.... we are predicted much rain and gale force winds later today and then after Wednesday a heatwave - upto 30 degrees! Crazy!

LOVE that way of displaying the yardsticks. What a fun idea and I love the graphic appeal of it. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative idea Linda, and so simple too. I LOVE vintage yardsticks and pick them up whenever I can find them at a good price which isn't too often these days.
ReplyDeleteSo cute... I can't say I've ever found these in So. Cal, but there's always the internet!
ReplyDeleteWe're renovating an old fixer upper and I just found one wedged in between a door and a cupboard - it was like I found gold LMHO !
ReplyDeleteWish I'd found a whole slew of them - LOVE how you've displayed yours!
Love your yardstick display.
ReplyDeleteI'm always on the hunt for old yardsticks & rulers for projects.
Have a great week.
Denise

ReplyDeleteHi LInda,
ReplyDeleteYou have a great collection of yard sticks. They are hard to find anymore and your collection is wonderful. Love them in the basket on the wall.
Kris
Linda - love your collection of yard sticks. Several posts back on one of my Saturday Treasures, I had a huge star made out of yardsticks that I had gotten at a craft show. I really like it.

YES!!! I have always had a fascination with rulers and yardsticks. I trimmed my bathroom mirror from ones I collected from around my hometown. Now everyday I look in the mirror and never forget where I came from.

ReplyDeleteNice collection! I love how you used them outside in the shape of a fan.
ReplyDeleteI love them, Linda! Such a great idea to display them in the basket! I love yardsticks for sewing. xo Karen
ReplyDeleteAt one time, I was picking up vintage yard sticks with ads on them everywhere I went. Our apt is not vintage and I miss decorating with all my vintage stuff. Praying for a home in a year or so that we can fix up. Love your stuff. Always.
ReplyDeleteI love yardsticks too! The most creative use for them was at a friends home, she used them as wainscoting in her powder room. Sooo cute! Mimi
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with them! :)
ReplyDeleteI love vintage yardsticks. You found some great ones. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteThose are neat Linda! I was just thinking about yard sticks the other day. Thinking I would like to make a memo board for my son for college. Now to find some vintage ones!
ReplyDeleteI love the yardsticks in the basket! I have to be looking better while thrifting for them....I never see any! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI never pass up a yardstick! I love them and edged my new craft/sewing table with them. I love the idea of displaying them as art. I might have to do that with the bunch I have hoarded! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Dianne
Never seen one of these before. I do have an old wooden ruler that used to belong to my grandfather and it looks like a smaller version of these. But I only have the one :-)

Yummy yummy! I LOVE those yardsticks. I've been on the hunt, but I haven't found any lately. I did get a folding carpenter ruler the other day for a dollar. I'll keep my eyes peeled, though-you've inspired me! First visit to your blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm adding these to my list while fleaing and saleing this summer!!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks really cute! The only thing I have that comes close is the wood ruler that I had in elementary school lol In fact, I wonder where it went....
xo,
rue
I too collect vintage yardsticks - probably have 30 of them - love how you have yours displayed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect basket for your creative display--love it!
ReplyDeleteThey look so great in the basket! I've been collecting yardsticks for a couple of years now. I have a couple of projects in mind but I'm holding out until I find a red one. I WANT A RED ONE! All my visions for my yardstick projects include a red stripe...
ReplyDeleteI do love finding these gems at yard sales too Linda. I haven't done a thing with them yet, but always say I will :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a great week!
hugs...
Some of my favorite things to find.
ReplyDeleteI love yardsticks and rulers. If you would like to see mine look here: http://www.justlikegrammashouse.com/2014/04/09/yardsticks/
ReplyDeleteThey are so interesting to look at, everyone should have a display to add height to a corner and interest to a space.
They are also very handy to grab when you need to know how long something is, lol.
