I don't know about you, but this time of year, with the onset of March nearby, my thoughts begin to turn to spring! Last week I shared our Very Tall Entryway Wall and how I brightened it up with some aqua and yellow. Today I'm going to share another part of the entryway...the mudroom leading to our sunporch. It's been decorated for winter with greens and pinecones, but I've brightened things up there now, too! First off, I cleared the mantel and decorated it very simply...
I found this big, beautiful painting at the thrift store last fall and fell in love with it! Painted by K. Crosby in 1999,
the farm scene and big sky appeal to me...
Adding a couple of candleholders and a big rustic birdhouse,
was all I needed for a fresh, bright look.
Then I put my retro globes back on top of the coat rack shelf...
and my old blue street sign above the porch door.
I brought in an old tote full of vintage softballs and baseballs, too.
I'm enjoying the simple look!
Are you having thoughts of spring. too? If you are looking for some spring inspiration or just a little eye candy...I have a "Spring" board over on my Pinterest that you will enjoy!
Until next time...
Linda, that painting is wonderful. The colors are so perfect for this time of year. I recently added the sky artwork above my mantel and you are getting the same effect. Clear beautiful blue sky.
ReplyDeleteYour globe collection and that shelf in the entry stops me in my tracks every time. Beautiful! I'm pinning this....again. ;)

Your bright farm painting and rustic birdhouse pair together nicely on your mantel, Linda! With the rain we're getting, it is feeling more like spring than winter. Love the vintage globe collection, too!
ReplyDeleteI already started pulling out some spring pillow covers and throws....now if I can only get a nice day off to putter around and swap things out we'll be in business! Love your changes, that painting caught my eye immediately - love it, and the birdhouse below it as well!!
ReplyDeleteI should have kept the bucket of baseballs that my sun hit the leather off of. Why oh why didn't I? Sometimes I declutter the things that one day will mean the most. I love what you did with those! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteLinda, Your 3rd street sign touched my heart. We have a third st. here in Tipton and that's where my daughters' father lived growing up. I loved that boy with all my heart. The big picture with the bird house is adorable. The baskets , who could not use some of those? Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI've been working on removing winter decor and "lightening up" around the house, too. Love your collection of globes and how you have them displayed. Fantastic barn print you found!
ReplyDeleteThat's on my agenda this weekend. I need to get the last of my winter decor out of here, do a good cleaning and get on with spring. It's supposed to be in the 60's, so should be a good weekend for it :)
ReplyDeleteI love the changes you made. Isn't it fun to make small changes that actually make huge changes in the look of a room.
