Even though my children are grown...for me, the onset of fall is still marked by school starting and big yellow buses!
It's funny how school traditions and influences have
found their way into today's decorating trends!
Looking around our home, I found it in many places.
We have lots of maps...
and globes.
I love vintage school trophies...
and chalkboards...
A vintage locker basket holds bathroom towels.
We have several vintage classroom chairs...
And who doesn't love back-to-school ephemera and goodies?
Do you decorate with school inspired items, too?
Until next time...
Oh, I love all your vintage school-themed goodies! It was a walk down memory lane! I wish I had a couple of those chairs myself...I hate my office chair, LOL!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I really like all your school décor. We have a desk from the old Catholic school that Ted restored and one globe. Your maps are treasures. Do kids even look at them any more? Globes would have to be ever changing. My globe was made in the U.S.A. by the Roplougle Company....but I do not know the year. Blessings to you little school girl. :):) xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI love school decor and your collection looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLOVE all your vintage school decor, especially that swivel chair!
ReplyDeletelove all!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteLove the Vintage school treasures! Especially the map on the wall, the globes and chairs. How awesome! Have a wonderful weekend!

I found mine at the thrift store, but it is actually a piece that Target had...
DeleteThat all reminds me of Back In The Day when I went to grade school in the 1950's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! telling my age now LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm young in heart just not age
I just love all your vintage goodies! My kids have vintage globes in their rooms, so some of these would look great in their rooms! I love decorating with this stuff!
ReplyDeleteLinda I feel like you could be writing this post for my blog. I've always had a thing for maps and globes--I had to stop collecting them because in this new home I have so little display space---and I loooove vintage trophies. Sadly in SoCal you can't find any that are affordable anymore. Seeing your large map reminded me of a pinterest photo I saw once of a room decoupaged in old maps. It looked so cool.
ReplyDeleteHow's your summer been? I hope you've had some good quality time with the family and kids.
xo

Linda, I too have back to school in my family room! Two of my favorites are a miniature school desk and chair my best friend bought me for a birth! Sharon passed that year and I cherish the memories of the excitement she had when she gave it to me. I also adore my very vintage school report cards dating back to the late 1800's! The comments are awesome! The list goes on and on with the things I have. On the somewhat similar side in the same room are items from the bicentennial 1776-1976. Oh how I would adore to win to finally make that vintage banner I have been thinking about! later, Lori pinkfadedroses@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteOoo, I love all your school touches. I am on the hunt for some now as I am taking over the front display at the antique place I sell at for the month of September. I want to do a school display.
ReplyDeleteI love your school decor - I too have some, but would love to win your bundle!

I love all your vintage school items on display. I'll have to get out my Dick and Jane readers, chalkboards, etc. to decorate around the baker's rack of art/crafts supplies my grandchildren use when they're here with us. All your Back-To-School ephemera brings back fond memories of schooldays in the 50s/60s. tcmjem@aol.com
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love all of your scholastic décor! I don't have much school memorabilia, but I do love it.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing all of these great ideas. I work for an elementary school (Principal's Secretary) and am also drawn to chalkboards and alphabets and globes, well, you get the idea~thank you for your blog - it brings me a lot of joy-Rolinda rchristman@rocklin.k12.ca.us
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome!! I'd love to use them in a junk journal for my daughter who is homeschooling her girls.
ReplyDeleteI love the old-school ephemera!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you should be posting this give-away now. I was just looking on eBay for a globe, and while there, I have found some really neat maps. I haven't been able to find a globe locally, and I have been looking for some time. Also, I {still} love school supplies! Paper, pencils, binders...the smell makes me remember all those years I had to have those supplies. Of course, we had to follow a list, and I coveted things that weren't on the list, like markers, colored pencils, etc. Thank you for the opportunity to win and make another memory! rush88888 at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteLove those flash cards. Thank you for a chance to win. Take care.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh- I LOVE ephemera!! Especially school ephemera! What a fantastic giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYour school themed decor looks awesome. I, too, have globes and a roll down map. I also have 2 old school desks that Im trying to talk my hubby into hanging on the wall. I just love this kind of vintage style:)
What a cute post. The school memorabilia is all what I used when a child. I used to love the smell of paste and chalkboard dust along with the soap in the washrooms. Clearly---your soul is still going to school, and I just attended my 50th class reunion...and I'd go back in a second. Thanks for the memories, Sandi
ReplyDeleteThe flashcards and other school memorabilia would look great with my school desks.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for old maps to hang- brings back so many memories!

ReplyDeleteI still like to look at school supplies!!
Oh My Gosh...My kids are all grown up, but I still love the back to school season too! You reminded me of things I have in my house that really are "school related" and I think for September I'll gather them together to make a wonderful "Fall Vignette" Thanks for the inspiration! Your give away ephemera would sure look great spread throughout my "new" vignette so maybe I'll win!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage look.love it!! KMillheim609@aol.com
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I loved going back to school every year, nothing better than a new Big Chief tablet!
ReplyDeleteHow fun Linda!! We have one of the brown Collegiate Notebooks here that belonged to my MIL. It's full of her shorthand practice!! Isn't that neat? I never thought of using it in a vignette so I'm happy that you've talked about this today.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Monica too, I loved those Big Chief tablets.
We have a restaurant in Dallas called "Public School"; it is decorated with many of these things and makes everyone immediately feel connected! The food is great, as well.
ReplyDeleteSchool days, school days.....love all of your school days decor. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteHard to believe school starts so early!
ReplyDeleteLove your darling collection of school days décor! I have a weakness for it as well. I have a vintage school desk and I love old childrens books. Seems like school just ended and now it's starting again. :)
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
.Oh how those back to school days overwhelmed me. My 4 kids and a trip to K-Mart, the cost just unbelievable. Then uniform and tuition day...so overwhelming while my four ran round with their school pals, comparing classes.
ReplyDeleteThose days are over and a small memory with these kiddo's are positive. A true sign that we can't freak out over everyday situation...some of us won't remember them...
Jane

ReplyDeleteSome lovely thing´s there...a beautiful post!

Titti
This will be my last kid starting his last first day of school. I've been at it for 30 years. If I think of it I might be sad that chapter is closing on my life, but I'd be lying if I said I would miss a real lot. It's been a long run and I've enjoyed it, but I'm also ready not to be owned in part by the high school!
ReplyDeleteI was a school librarian for over 10 years and I have always loved Back to School time. We homeschooled our kids for 16 years, but still made a big deal of the first day of school. Great memories of those years. I collect old readers and textbooks. They are such a window into that time. Your prized package make me drool. :)
ReplyDeleteOne thing I've always loved about back to school time is the new supplies! Clean notebooks, pens, pencils, markers in all sorts of fun colors, the 64-pack of Crayola crayons with the sharpener in back. :-) I saw a vintage locker basket just like yours last week at my favorite antique shop. I liked it but didn't buy it because I had no idea what to do with it! Of course, creative you thought of that wonderful idea with the bathroom towels. Though my bathrooms are so tiny, there's no room to put the basket! Thanks for the chance to win your awesome giveaway - I could do some great scrapbooking with a lot of that ephemera!
ReplyDeleteVintage school supplies are always on my mind when thrifting! i would love to include these fun things in my back-to-school decor!
ReplyDeleteariedesel18@gmail.com :)

ReplyDeleteI know you collect so many different things, Linda...do you think there is something subliminal with the school ephemera?!! I love maps, in fact I just saw a post that inspired me in a new way to display maps and I'm going to surprise hubby with some maps of his favorite places!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great giveaway going on...very, very sweet!
