Thanksgiving Hutch Decorating

Happy November!
It is definitely feeling like late fall here...last week we even had our first snow!
This week I had some fun redecorating our hutch for Thanksgiving!
I love bringing out my vintage turkeys and this year
decided to go with some brown transferware dishes.

I found a cute little wood easel at the thrift store and went
on Pinterest to find an old postcard to print on cardstock...
there are many people sharing postcard printables.

I drew the color of the card from this cute pair of turkeys I recently found.
They have a little more unusual coloring than I usually see...

I love this old yellowware pitcher...
it is perfect for displaying my wood utensil collection.

Everything on the hutch, except for the little teapot on the top shelf
(which was my mother-in-law's) was found at thrift stores and garage sales.
It's fun to gather things over time and build your collection.
When I redecorate this hutch,  I don't have a lot of any one pattern.
I have gathered some pieces of each color, and add other accessories to accent them. In that way you highlight special pieces and completely change the look!

If you haven't seen how I created this hutch, it was made from
a dresser we bought in the 80's and a $15 bookcase top from the thrift store!
You can see the transformation HERE.

Next post I'll be sharing a Thanksgiving mantel!

Until next time...

  2. It is a beautiful hutch and looks so pretty for the fall season. My Mom collected turkeys. She lost them in a flood just after I got married. How I wished I had them.

  5. I love your 'collection' of things and that turkey platter is beautiful. I had some turkey candybox pieces from Germany but won't unpack them this year being as I have everything in limbo status.

I created a hutch the same way years ago Linda. Great minds think alike! Or-thrifters are always thrifty---something like that. lol xoDiana

  7. You always have the BEST hutch displays, Linda!!! I absolutely adore this, and I have to ask where do you store all this stuff when you're not using it in the hutch? That's my problem, I would love to have all sorts of different sets of china for lovely table settings but where on earth would I keep it all? Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Everything looks lovely, Linda - you know I love every vignette you create! Love all the little turkeys and the pretty transfer-ware, especially that wonderful platter. The wooden spoons in the pitcher and the rolling pins in the basket are a nice touch. So clever how you made the hutch, too. I would have never guessed! Hugs xo Karen

  15. Very nice! I really like the turkey hens - you don't see those often. I didn't realize your hutch was a dresser & hutch top until you pointed it out. LOL we have 2 of those dressers.
