A Fun Yard Tool Makeover

I am just back from a week with the family...swimming, boating, eating, fireworks and fun! I managed to sneak in a fun little makeover project, too!

This week I am joining my fellow Thrifty Chicks in another of our makeover challenges...this time we are using old yard tools! I'll be sharing links to all of the projects at the end of my post!

I chose to re-do an old farm/garden funnel!

Thrifty Chicks Blog Hop

My funnel is really large...perfect for a decorative plant holder! I wanted to do something really colorful for summer, so I went to my stash of bottle caps!

In order to attach them to the funnel I used some wooden game markers, and glued them in the caps. I am sure the craft store has wood pieces, too. You could use glued in magnets, too...but I knew they wouldn't stay on in our weather.  Then I glued the caps to the funnel. Just use an indoor outdoor glue.

I found an old metal mop handle in the garage and used that as a the support pole.  I love the red color.  I used a rubber mallet to hammer
it well into the ground for good support.

Then I simply slid the funnel over the pole.
The funnel has a mesh screen at the top of its neck that holds it in place.

It adds a little whimsy to the garden...

Zinnias are my favorite flowers!
The bright yellow color creates such a happy look!

It looks so cute next to my garage sale winged pig...
