I always find that I enjoy our long winter more, when I decorate the house for it! Are you like that, too? It gives the house a fun and cozy feeling! Today I am joining my fellow Thrifty Chicks group for our monthly re-use/makeover challenge! This month we are re-doing small pieces of furniture!

Recently I found this cute little wood child's chair at the thrift store!
It's a homemade piece, with simple styling, and a plywood seat.
I decided to create a winter vignette with it. My makeover is the simplest, yet most transforming, re-do of all...paint! I have several children's chairs,
but I have always wanted a red one. So red it will be!
but I have always wanted a red one. So red it will be!
It took 3 coats to get the depth of red I wanted...I used a satin acrylic craft paint.
When the paint was dry, I added some simple folk art motifs with a white paint pen. The design reminds me of the 50's Metlox Poppytrail dishes with the rooster.
I decorated the back and the seat, as well.

It's perfect for the winter vignette I made!
I love these Indoor Snowballs for snowball fights! I admit to having thrown a few at Viking Man when I opened the box!

A little leftover red felt keeps this polar bear extra warm...
and pulls the red color across the vignette.
I found this gnome at a Scandinavian shop recently!
If you watch the TV show Gold Rush...you know why we named him Tony.
Cutest little ski poles...
The white tree was a thrift store find...
Pin me...
and is oh-so-magical when lit.

Your little red chair is adorable! Love the stencils that you added to it and how it looks in your winter vignette.

Linda,
ReplyDeleteBoy do you miss so much if just looking on Instagram. Love the chair. You made a cozy spot and I live the little ski polls. The tree is too cute and lit up it's even better.
You rocked it
Cindy
This is adorable, Linda! I'm coveting those black skis;) What a cozy scene to enjoy on the dark winter nights. The bits of red totally work for Vday, too!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see you painted the cute little chair in bright red! It really pops as part of the winter vignette and fits in perfectly with your other winter-themed elements. Makes me think I should do something similar with some small skis and sled I still have out from Christmas! Hmmm. Thanks for the invite to play with you guys, so far it's been fun and I'm looking forward to future challenges! xo Kathleen
ReplyDeleteLinda love the re love of the little chair. The vignette is so awesome. Great job.

Linda, I am smitten with your little red chair and the vignette it sits in. The whole collection is truly cozy, welcoming and fun. And those snowballs - love!!
ReplyDeleteOh Linda it’s so adorable and accented with those skis😱
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann! Something so sweet about child sized pieces!
DeleteI can't even with this fabulous chair makeover, Linda! It's super cute and I love how the vignette is wintery without feeling too Christmas-y. That's definitely something I struggle with at my house after the holidays. I miss the twinkling lights from the tree and would still have them up everywhere if I could :) This vignette is the perfect balance - I love it all! Hugs, CoCo
ReplyDeleteRed!! Oh my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative when it comes to re-purposing or changing things up from thrift shops! This chair and entire vignette is so adorable. I love the pops of red for an instant cheery lift, especially during these cold, dark months.
ReplyDeleteYou brought that little chair to life, Linda. It is now ready to play with all the other chairs.

Cute project......Some reds, the crimson kind are notoriously transparent. That's why you had to paint so many coats. Adorable chair and I love your vignettes.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandi! It ended up with a nice depth of color!
