Hello Friends!
Hope you are all doing well! Here, most places are closed, and people are staying indoors. Are you doing the same? I have been filling my time in positive ways...
taking the time to do some work we've needed to finish around the house...
as well as being creative as much as I can, too.
Today I decided to share a little simple spring decorating with faux flowers with you. We have no garden flowers here...there's still a little snow on the ground...and there's no shopping right now. If you have some faux flowers around the house, or some birds and nests...it's a perfect time to use them to bring in a little uplifting color into our homes!
I love using my white pottery pieces...
A little greenery and flowers brightens up the hutch, too...
Having to stay indoors, especially coming at the end of a long winter, can surely feel isolating and really bring on cabin fever. It's a time to keep in touch with friends and family, and surrounding ourselves with beauty and creativity can help, too.
I think I'll be picking up my crocheting again...and reading some of those books on my reading list, too. I'm experimenting with ways to creatively make meals from the pantry, and am watching informative and funny movies and shows to help lift the spirit.
I'd love to hear some of the ways you're spending your time indoors!
Any good movies or books to recommend to us?
And for those of you who are still working to provide services and care...a BIG thank you!
Praying that you are all safe and well in the days ahead.
Until next time...
Finally took down my winter decor last week.....but did not get out my robins yet, so will definitely do that today! My neighbor got me sewing fabric face masks yesterday.....may be late to the game but still something I can actually do to feel useful.....so not all that selfless, ha! Did you not go to the Spring Idea House? I was actually in town a couple weekends ago, visiting my daughter but didn't go. Your posts are so good, almost better than going myself. Be well!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susanne! I had tickets to go to the Bachman's House...then they cancelled it. I had already decided not to go anyway with all that's going on!
DeleteBetter safe, than sorry!
I do love your white matte pottery pieces and the way you have styled your hutch. So nice for spring! I have just watched Magic in the Moonlight. The story line is tamely entertaining, but the setting in the south of France is simply gorgeous! The costumes too. Can't stop watching it just for the pretty rooms and the landscaping.
ReplyDeleteI just put it on my watchlist...the trailer looked great! Thanks for sharing, Jacqueline!
DeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteFor decorating and projects are getting finished. Daffodils are just beginning to bloom here.
I've been cooking as well, which I enjoy. I'm staying positive because I truly believe in our Country and medical community. It may be tough for a bit but I believe it will not be this way forever.
Your Robin and use of florals are pretty! Stay positive and creative.
Cindy
Thank you, Cindy! I agree...this too, shall pass!
DeleteI'm lucky to live in Atlanta where spring has sprung and I can get out and walk in the warm air. I think I will pull out a bird nest that I have. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteThat sounds lovely, Laura! It's coming here soon...the snow is nearly gone...and I saw two robins this morning!
DeleteDue to illness I've been home for 2 weeks, only time out is daily walk around neighborhood. School is closed, so 11 year old does some school work, lots of art projects, some xbox games, lots of chats. Yesterday he used his phone camera to make a video of his pictures found throughout our home, from infancy till now. It is a wonderful video! He denies being bored so I am thankful for that! Since we've both been sick, have done little decorating. But hopefully we are better now and can work on house projects... which we have many thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well! I'm glad you are starting to feel better now. It's a good time to get some of those things we've needed to do, done. Yesterday I went through my clothes and filled two bags for donating.
DeleteLove your white pottery, Linda. and that little robin figurine is perfect. You've inspired me to try to locate a few of my bird pieces. I'll miss your posts on Bachman's. stay well, happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra! First time I've missed a Bachman's House in 10 years! Maybe next time...
DeleteVery cheery in your house!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angie! Really looking forward to spring and just sitting out in the porch.
DeleteHutch decor is gorgeous! Good ideas you have. I am creating vignettes for my readers, something to do while home, as you mentioned. A lot of people will be online because they can't go out.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Thank you, Brenda! It is a good time to do some of those things we never have time for...
DeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThis has been a struggle to be isolated now for another 2 weeks. The weather is still cold this weekend but the sunshine is out. Next week it is suppose to get warmer and that will feel good to walk Buddy outside. I have been working on some painting projects to help with the cabin fever. Starting to do some Spring decor too. Love all of yours. The hutch looks so aweseome.
Hugs and Happy Weekend.
It sure can be isolating. We have talked to so many family members on the phone this week...everyone is checking on everyone else...that's a good thing.
DeleteI love vintage pottery and your dried flowers look perfect in those pieces! As an introvert, I am not bored at all. Finding plenty of things to do. Today, besides the usual housework and two loads of laundry (including changing my bedding), I read a little bit, did a writing exercise, practiced yoga, listened to some music (I've been listening to Chopin lately; very different from my usual rock music!), painted my nails a pretty pink-rose color, took a long, hot bath, make a tuna pasta salad, made a broccoli salad, made chocolate-almond oatmeal bars, answered email, read blogs, brushed my cats, rearranged some decor and put out some Easter items, watered plants, sent out a couple of pretty greeting cards with handwritten messages in them. I usually take a daily walk but it's so cold here right now! I just don't feel like bundling up and going outside. I'm reading a book called "Eat Joy". It's stories and comfort food recipes from 31 writers.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Melanie! I don't get bored either...and actually am less anxious because I don't have anything on my schedule or anywhere I have to go to.
DeleteThe book sounds great!
Yes many shops and restaurants is closed here too! Its a bad time for everyone...
ReplyDeleteLet's hope for the best and for a bright Springtime :)
Love from Titti
Thank you, Titti! Stay well!
DeleteVery pretty and fresh and clean. So gray and cold here, still. I did stick some faux forsythia in my planters on the porch...but it is so hard to think Spring.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandi! We woke up to snow this morning, but it has melted already. We'll be near 50 degrees this week...a heat wave lol. The robins are around, though, and that always brings a smile to my face. Hope it warms up there soon!
DeleteI love the fresh looks of Spring. My creativity this weekend turned to chaos. So I rested today.
ReplyDeleteThere sure are those days! It's good you listen to your body!
DeleteLove all your spring! That tole tray is incredible! Thanks so much for the inspiration today!
ReplyDeletehappy day!
karianne
Thank you, KariAnne! Spring colors are brightening these days!
DeleteLove the spring decorations. We are in lockdown, have been for about ten days now, with no end in sight. I've been doing a lot of crafting but not much else. I hope to settle into this new routine and start doing some projects around the house, there is a lot to be done. Take good care!
